TadpoleTadpoleAge: 6 to 36 monthsPrerequisite: If your child is under 36 months.Parent must be in the water with the childTadpole is our beginner Infant/Toddler class, and the first part of our Infant/Toddler Program. In this class, you and your child will participate together in activities that will provide both of you with knowledge of basic safety and swimming skills. These skills include water adjustment, teaching the child to hold their breath, going under the water, kicking, jumping in and returning to the side, and swimming short distances.Note: For children under 12 months of age, Tadpole can be taught in a Baby Tadpole curriculum. In Baby Tadpole, the expectations for the class are geared to more of an age-appropriate level, while still teaching the basic skills of water adjustment, floating, rolling over, and going underwater.

FrogFrogAge: 6 to 36 monthsPrerequisite: If your Child is under 36 months and has completed Tadpole.Parent must be in the water with the childFrog is our advanced Infant/Toddler class, and the second part of our Infant/Toddler program. In this class, you and your child will work on several more advanced skills, such as rollover breathing, pop-up breathing, changing direction in the water, picking up toys off the bottom of the pool, and swimming longer distances.

Beginner MinnowBeginner MinnowAge: 3 years and upPrerequisite: If your child is over 3 years and cannot swim 10 feet unassisted.Parent does not need to be in the water with the childBeginner Minnow is our lower-level beginner class where students work on the basics of swimming, such feeling comfortable going under water, swimming a distance of ten feet without assistance, back floating, and jumping into the water and returning to the wall.

Advanced MinnowAdvanced MinnowAge: 3 years and upPrerequisite: If your child over 3 years and can swim 10 feet unassisted.Parent does not need to be in the water with the childAdvanced Minnow is our upper-level beginner class where students learn several more advanced skills, including swimming a distance of 30 feet, performing rollover breathing and pop-up breathing, and changing direction in the water.

FishFishPrerequisite: If your child can swim 30 feetFish is an intermediate class for children who are able to swim, but have no knowledge of strokes. In this class, students will learn to perform the front crawl, execute the technique of rhythmic breathing, swim further distances, and perform the backstroke.

StingraySting RayPrerequisite: If your child can swim the backstroke.Stingray is a more advanced intermediate class designed for children to gain a more thorough understanding of strokes. Students will work on perfecting front crawl, executing the side breathing technique, learning the elementary backstroke, and learning how to tread water.

BarracudaBarracudaPrerequisite: If your child knows rotary breathing and elementary backstroke.Barracuda is an advanced class designed to introduce children to different kicking techniques and advanced strokes. Students will learn the whip kick and scissors kick, and will also be introduced to the breaststroke and sidestroke.

DolphinDolphinPrerequisite: If your child knows rotary breathing and elementary backstroke.Dolphin is a more advanced class designed to prepare students for very advanced performance in the water. In addition to increasing endurance, students will learn to perfect the breaststroke and the sidestroke, as well as learn the dolphin kick.

SharkSharkPrerequisite: If your child knows rotary breathing and elementary backstroke.Shark is the most advanced class curriculum of all those offered at Sharks & Minnows. In this class, students will learn the butterfly, as well as how to execute flip turns. To complete the level, all students must be able to perform each of the six strokes, with flip turns, over a distance of 500 yards.
